Vanity

Here is a poem, an except from my book “God Speaks,” that I wrote some time ago concerning VANITY (pride, narcissism, self-importance, conceit, arrogance, bigheadedness) :

Vanity is as vanity does

She struts, she sashays, a cut above

All her contemporaries, some ere who may

Desire to copy her vainglorious ways

And what is vain as vain can be

A mirror image, a reflection is she

Who sees herself as only she can see

And bolsters herself into obscurity

One may do as the other has done

And esteem himself the only one

Of any consequence proven to be

Utmost in exception and desirability

Until such time as may arise

A vision, a revelation, a portal inside

That unveils the true hidden nature of man

Which denies all claims as only truth can

And lays bare the substance of all human flesh

The layers of character from birth until death

Till naked and open the one thing that’s plain

Is that vain is vanity and vanity is vain.

2016 – Still Growing

This is my second year posting to this blog. After a rough start (I really didn’t know what I was doing), I think I have finally figured out most of the components. It is by no means a finished product. I am always looking to improve the experience for my readers, as well as for myself, and to the glory of our Almighty God and Father. So, please be patient with me as I try to make this a polished and enjoyable site.

Update on GMM

I’ve been on social media Spreading the Word of God in Christ Jesus.  It’s been an interesting journey.  Some agree and some disagree with what I have to share of my experience in studying the scripture, but that’s okay.  I have on my armour and I am standing firm on faith.

Overall, it is a great opportunity to fellowship with other believers outside of my immediate circle.  What is most surprising is the many views, one sees it one way and someone else sees it differently.  But as I reiterate what is written in scripture, “Come, let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”  (Isaiah 1:18)  The door is open for dialogue.  Let’s talk!

Flower Power

THE FLOWER by Beverly Anita

THE SEED IS CAST ONTO THE GROUND.
IT MAKES NO NOISE, IT MAKES NO SOUND
IT SETTLES ITSELF INTO THE SOFT, MOIST EARTH
MOVING DEEPER AND DEEPER INTO THE DIRT
IT NUTURES ITSELF UPON THE SOIL
IT DOES NOT WORK, IT DOES NOT TOIL
BUT FEEDS UPON RAIN THAT OFTEN COMES
AND WARMS ITSELF WITH ABUNDANT SUN
AND WHEN IT HAS GROWN BEYOND ITS GRAIN
AND THE FRUIT THE SEED CAN NO LONGER CONTAIN
IT SEEKS TO BURST ITS HUMBLE SHELL
AND STARTS TO GROW AND STARTS TO SWELL
TO REACH BEYOND THAT
TO WHICH IT WAS BOUND
UP, UP TO LIGHT
UP, UP TO FREEDOM
INCH BY INCH
DAY BY DAY
THE FRUIT OF THE SEED
MAKES ITS WAY
ABOVE THE GRAVE
INTO THE LIGHT
AND BREAKS FREE THE EARTH
TO REACH NEW HEIGHTS
FIRST THE BUD
THEN THE FLOWER
JOY AND GLADNESS
STRENGTH AND POWER
BEAUTY AND MAJESTY
MAKES ITS CLAIM
WONDEROUSLY, WONDERFUL
GLORIOUS FAME
BUT SOMEONE ADMIRES ITS DECADENT SHOW
AND PLUCKS UP THE FLOWER AS IT BASKS IN ITS GLOW
AND WHEN IT HAS FADED AND THE FLOWERS DO FALL
IT IS CAST TO THE GROUND, IT IS DONE, THAT IS ALL
BUT WAIT ONE MOMENT
TAKE NOTICE, PAY HEED
THE FLOWER HAS WITHERED
EXPOSING THE SEED
WHICH ONCE AGAIN MAKES ITS WAY TO THE EARTH
REJOICE, REBOUND, RENEW, REBIRTH!

To God the Glory

I have finished my first project in “Home Decor by Faith,” and I must take a minute to give thanks to God my Father and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me in the area of art.   It was in high school that I was first exposed to art, music, sewing and cooking.   I have carried the love of these arts with me all my life and I thank God for that.  I did not go on to further education in any of these areas, but that drop was enough to spurn my desire to teach myself (with the help of the Holy Spirit, who I would consult with often), what I did not know.

In my poverty, I found opportunities everywhere to express myself.  If I had a hole in my wall, I covered it with a handmade painting of whatever I could find, even left over wall paint.  If my sofa showed signs of extreme wear, I found a way to make a cover for it.  If I needed a door, I concocted one out of some discarded material.  As a matter of fact, as I look around my home, I could honestly say it is almost all “homemade.”

I believe everyone is blessed with some ability.  I pray everyone finds theirs.  It is sooooo rewarding.

Hello world!

Welcome!  My name is Beverly Anita and you are invited t share in this part of my journey where I share the things that interest me most and how they are impacted by my love of God, our creator and his Son, and our Savior Jesus Christ.  Secondly, how this love influences everything I am and everything I do, from music to art to fellowship with family and friends.  There is nothing that I do or can do or would doHallelujah Praise without Jesus.
